When to replace petrol filter unit

Hi there, I have a 2015 ford fiesta and have never replaced the fuel filter, well aware that it sits inside the petrol tank and the whole unit will need to be replaced. The car already has 200 000km on the clock. The dealership says it never has to be replaced, however a friend of mine has replaced his on his car. Suggestions?

    The dealership is correct on this occasion. The tank filter is only a nylon gauze, not much of a filter more of just a screen. It will last the lifetime of your vehicle.
