Creaky Noise

Featured Replies

Hey fellow Ford owners,

I am not a car person by any chance but my Ford is currently making some very strange noises while also doing some handwheel shaking above 60MPH I know this is usually to do with a wheel unbalance. (https://imgur.com/a/Rnf4dAI) - Link to wheels if you can see any issues with warping

The main thing worrying me is the creaking noise this is usually only heard when traveling below 15MPH and going up hills while turning. (https://jumpshare.com/share/ougBQq3fOVGJbQ1cgCx4) (https://jumpshare.com/share/9hO5CfHyVFrsHrlGGHUQ) - Link to noise examples

The car just had a Full service and MOT less than a month ago. After failing due to brake pads it passed with no advisories. Just wanting to make sure this isn't something they missed such as an axel on its last legs.

Any knowledge about issues you may have had would be very welcome I am going to book the car in to check its wheel alignment anyway but in case anyone knows about the creaking I could explain at the garage would be helpful!

Cheers!

Looks like the tyres have been replaced fairly recently. I would think it is a simple case that one or more of the balance weights have fell off. Get the wheels rebalanced.

Cheers do you think this relates to the creaking noise ? Or something separate

Something else I suspect.

If the creaking noise only happens while you're turning i would suspect a dodgy top mount bearing. Is it coming from one side of the car?

Not only when turning can happen when just going slow/over speed bumps it is mainly coming from one side but occasionally I think I hear it from the other side but much much less

Could well be worn bushes if doing it over speed bumps. You could try to isolate which ones by spraying them with some silicone lubricant spray. I'd start with spraying both the anti-roll bar bushes first. See if that makes any difference after a day or two, if not then move on to the lower arm bushes. The hot/dry weather at the moment will make worn dry bushes more pronounced.
