AliExpress Remote locking unit. Any help please.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I know it'll be laughed at, but at 69 years old, I've had my fast stuff. I needed a reliable economical ride that I could insure, so 2015 Studio 1.25 it is.

So with that out the way, I need remote locking so bought a £12 kit from ebay/Aliexpress/ Temu etc. But I am so confused with the instructions ( Chinglish )

In a nutshell, they are saying to connect to the passenger door, yet I feel connecting to the master lock/unlock on the dash to be the better option.

Over to  you.

Any help gratefully received.

Can't you can just buy, activate and program in a standard Ford remote to non remote Fiestas?

Thanks Dave, I know I should have looked at that, but I'm an old git, so didn't think it through. Doh !

There was a different central locking module for non-remote Mk7 Fiestas so it may not be as simple as just adding a remote.  It's also possible the RCL module was integrated into the BCM for the facelift MK7's.

If you can get on the floor (and back up again!) have a quick look under the glovebox to see if there's a white label on an RCL module like this one.  If it says R/CONTR then you should just be able to add a remote to it.

So, update. !!

After taking advice on here, I contacted several ford dealerships ( WTF is going on, I never got through to a single human) after long drawn out ***** with robot menus, I invariably got cut of or simply hung up in the menu loop. Honestly, the world is F%$£ed if we carry on like this. But I digress, anyway, I eventually had to email 3 ford dealerships with my vin number and asked for their suggestions on how I convert my key entry car into keyless. I had to wait 2 days for the answers, and guess what, all *****. They handed the question to 16 year old school girls that have never seen a car. Giving me advice like you need to book it in to the shop, or here's the part number you need ( simple replacement lock and key) !  I did pop along to my local ford dealership where I spoke to a guy that seemed to suggest that whatever I do, it will need a technician to plug into the car and tell the control unit that it is now keyless, Really ? He also mentioned  Forscan ! I had never heard of it, but in my brief search it looks like a OBD reader/system software. Any help here would be useful.

I guess I'm gonna have to go back to my original plan and find a way to understand the chinglish instructions for the units I have bought.

Thanks for getting this far. Peace

Hi Terry, don't give up just yet.

FORScan is the easy bit, I'll post the details below. There are many on here who will be able to offer advice on what needs to be done.

Now the main point !!

I'm confused as to exactly what it is you what to achieve.  Originally I thought I understood and believed what you wanted was a keyfob (with buttons) that you could use to lock and unlock the doors and tailgate. Now reading your latest post regarding asking Ford dealers about making your car "keyless" means you are asking for something totally different.

To be clear, remote locking/unlocking using a keyfob with buttons is absolutely not the same as keyless.

The second point is that you will not find any Ford main dealer who will activate the remote locking on a car that was not built with that feature. Ford Motor Manufacturing will simply not allow dealers to engage in such practices.

So if you can confirm, is it 'Remote' or is it 'Keyless' that you want ?

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

Ahh, you got me, yeah, it was just remote locking with a button on the fob. I have no idea, why I said keyless, I really do not like that kind of technology anyway, it'll always go wrong when you need it most.

As for the software, I already have a Vlinker OBD2 but as I do not have a laptop, ( Table top only) I need it for my phone (Android) I guess if there isn't that option, I'll even buy a cheap Lappy to deal with Forscan.

Thanks for your help so far.

Forgot to mention, when I downloaded Forscan on my phone, I was warned it would not run on my version of Android, ( weird it's latest version)

The phone version can not make programming changes, it's only for diagnostics.

So, to prevent further confusion, it's remote keyless entry you want (RKE) not keyless start.

You need Windows FORScan, with an extended license and an internet connection and the correct lead

Can you borrow a laptop?

Buy the remote fob and have the key cut

In FORScan go into BCM and activate RKE

Program remote key to imobiliser

Programe remote key to BCM

Ford will NOT activate RKE, but they will program a new key to the vehicle

Option 2:

Activate RKE in FORScan

Take to Ford and book in to programme a new remote key, they will charge you for the fob, to cut the key and programme the key to the immobiliser and the BCM

The OP doesn't what 'keyless entry' what he actually wants is just a traditional remote Ford keyfob with buttons to press when he want to lock and unlock the door.

See examples below of remote keyfobs.

Yes, that's remote keyless entry, RKE

The other type of (Referred to) keyless entry, with buttons on the handles, is Passive Entry
