Reverse lights not working

Featured Replies

Hello, unsure if this is the right place. Just trying to fix up my girlfriend's reverse lights while she's away, it's a 2009 fiesta. I've just been checking the fuses, the fuse in the passenger compartment is fine, not blown. But after looking at some fuse box diagrams for the engine compartment fuse box I noticed that the reverse lamp relay is completely missing. I'm assuming that this is the source of the issue but wanted to confirm before I started looking elsewhere. Equally if anyone knows where I could find the correct relay that would be awesome!

Hi,

Reverse lamps don't need a relay.  They take a very small amount of power.  Do you have a link to that diagram?

Have you check the bulb isn't blown?  Second check after that is the switch on the gearbox.

Is she an import model? I've never seen a girlfriend with reverse lights 🤣

Handy in dark car parks (according to a friend).

It's not usual for the reverse light(s) to be operated via a relay as Tom has already said.

I do note that the old 2008/2009 handbook makes reference to Relay R12 for the reverse light but it was very likely never used. If you want to check you can test by using Relay R10, or Relay R13
