Stereo/ phone cutting out with loud banging noise

Featured Replies

Hi all.  I really hope someone can help.  I have a four year old Fiesta Eco Boost with an inbuilt Apple play entertainment system.  For the last eight months, whether I am linked to my phone or not, I have experienced a loud banging noise overhead on a regular (several times a day) basis and, simultaneously, the stereo will switch from whatever I am listening to on FM to AM531 which is just static.  If I am on the phone, listening to a pod cast, music on an app or following sat nav, the loud banging noise will be accompanied by the sound cutting out.

The car is under warranty and has been to a Ford dealership five times.  They cannot diagnose a “fault”.  So far they have tried resetting the stereo, replacing the Sync unit (twice) and replacing the stereo but nothing works.  Due to the location of the sound (above my head) I wonder it is a fault with the aerial or with the wiring.  Any suggestions gratefully received.
