Overheating Problem

Featured Replies

2012 Fiesta 1.25 petrol zetec engine.

Car is overheating and the fan does not kick in to cool it down.

When the car is moving forward over long distances, there are no issues.  So I assume the thermostat is ok.

Running a diagnostic on it with the engine running, its picking up the engine temperature - so i assume the temp sensor is working fine.

The fuses and relay appear to be working ok

Putting a direct power feed to the fan its self - it spins although struggles to get anywhere near the speed I would expect, sounds noisy and labored.

So I'm edging my bets on buying a new fan assembly should solve the problem.

I wondered if the actual voltage sent to the fan by the car under normal conditions is not the full 12v - so its not enough to spin the fan at all, hence why its overheating.

It also doesn't come on at all when the AC is turned on, which I understand it should - you just get a slight buzzing noise from inside the car.

Just thought I would ask before I buy one.........

Any thoughts?

Seems like you need a new fan.
