display temp don't working.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

In my Ford, the small central display on the dashboard for temperature/mileage/etc. no longer lights up.

What can I check?

Thank you very much

Hi,

These screens use tiny LED backlights. They aren't really replaceable. Best option is to open up the cluster and replace the screen.

Perhaps @rd457 can help with this?

Can you post a picture?

When you say 'no longer lights up', do you really mean that there's no backlight, or do you mean it's blank (no text)? A blank LCD is a common problem due to LCD failure. Lack of actual backlighting would be something else entirely.

If it's just a blank LCD, you'll need to find a replacement LCD. I'm sure I'll have a pic I can provide if that would be helpful. It's very easy to replace them on the Mk7 (2008-2012) units, you just unclip the front cover, lift it off, lift off another bit of black plastic (which often just comes off the the cover), and the LCD is accessible right there for replacement, it just takes a little bit of wrangling to pull it out, and then you just push the new one into place..
