Fuel Injectors Jets

Featured Replies

I have a Motorhome which as a Ford Engine 1995 Cc. The plate is 23 and purchased new in April 2023. Warranty was 2 yrs expired in April 25.

The problems I have had are the Fuel Injector Jets had to replace 2 possibly 3 as we have broken down in France 3 times with these issues. Are the Jets faulty and was there ever a recall and as anyone else entail the same problems.

Welcome!
Faulty at that age doesn't sound good and 3 breakdowns with identical issues is almost unbelievable (was it a separate injector each time or did some of the replacement ones also fail?)
I'll have to leave others to comment on the reliability aspect.
May have been a "bad batch" but other issues including fuel condition, filter issues (had a bad batch on that) meaning much more history of operation and maintenance would maybe help understanding.
I think, on here, we rate Archoil fuel additives (assuming diesel) and if Euro 6 the anti-crystalline stuff for the Ad Blue?

Hi,

If you search for '2.0 EcoBlue injector faults' you'll see it is/was a common issue. Many replaced under warranty but I can't remember a recall.

Part of the problem is lack of use, which is likely to be magnified with a motorhome if not used for several months of the year. There is also a PCM update available which should help maintain them for a bit longer, but would still recommend running the engine regularly to keep the injectors in better condition.

Difficult to comment on repair costs as some people seem to get goodwill gestures easily, while others have to pay thousands to replace injectors out of warranty.

Just had No 1 new injector installed last week and No 2 Installed March 2025. Drove around 100 miles and the Motorhome starting shaking/ jerking like I was driving over Cats eyes. Checked that I put correct fuel in which is B7 Diesel all ok. Can someone explain the issues I am having. 3 times Broken down in North France whilst on holiday in my Motorhome over the past 12 months.

Not without a fault code. But I would put money on another failed injector. All 4 injectors should have been replaced at the same time.

Thank you. In hindsight I think that would of be the way forward. Was not advised on this option. Also Motorhome as only done 10k miles. Real problem !!

As suggested above, you should also check whether there is a PCM update available for your vehicle. The update closes off the air intake when the engine is not running, stopping cold damp air getting inside and corroding the injectors. This will be a bigger problem on a Motorhome than any car or van.

Not that I am aware of any Updates. Obviously there's a problem with the Injectors. I will need to look into in more detail when I get back. At present waiting for diagnostic check to establish problem.

You will not be aware of any updates. You have to ask a Ford main dealer to check their online system using your reg or VIN number. It is not accessible to the public.

Is it a Ford motorhome or is it manufactured by a 3rd party manufacturer based on the Ford Transit platform?

In case the motorhome is manufactured by a 3rd party there is a possibility that it does not show in the Ford system. Many 3rd party manufacturers buy the Transit as a customer specific bare chassis version (unfinished, not road legal product). In this situations it is not uncommon to have the warranty and support excluded from Ford.

Just had the diagnostic test carried out by a Ford dealer in France all 4 injectors have now failed and need to be replaced. Had 2 replaced, last March 2025 and last week. As I am in France at present I am not sure whether they are going to honour the warranty on 2 injectors that have been replaced which where carried out by French Ford Dealerships. I am waiting for costs. Any idea on price for 4 injectors and labour. Probably hard to say due to location. I need to get back to England.

Warranty on genuine Ford parts usually differs between countries. However, 12 Months seem to be normal for most European countries.

The parts warranty however only covers manufacturing defects or installation defects. The warranty does not cover consequential damage and for some parts the warranty only applies when the part is installed by an authorized Ford dealer.

I suggest taking a closer look at the French warranty conditions on genuine Ford parts.

In the UK I would estimate the cost for 4 injectors and labour to be £1500-£2000 at a Ford dealership.

I don't know how much different that might be in France. But it will not be cheap anywhere unfortunately.

It is definitely worth trying to get some sort of goodwill gesture if possible.

The problem is that all national Ford organizations are basically independent businesses which are not connected to each other. Ford UK basically has nothing to do with Ford France.

The manufacturer warranty is valid across Europe. This however does not apply to goodwill.

It will be extremely difficult to receive any gesture of goodwill from Ford France if the vehicle was never supplied new by Ford France.

Thank you for your comments. The fuel injectors have been a massive problem. Basically we have spent as much time in French Ford Dealerships than we have had enjoying our Holiday in our Motorhome. For the Injectors to go 3 times in the space of 12 months is not acceptable considering the Motorhome was brought new 2023. Reason for buying new is not to have these issues. In my opinion the van is not fit for purpose and what's happened is not acceptable.

Since this is basically a Stellantis formerly (PSA) BlueHDI engine I would also look into alternative repair options. Especially when warranty or goodwill are not applicable.

Especially in France every Peugeot/Citroen dealership or specialist should be able to supply and install new fuel injectors. This is usually also considerably cheaper than buying them from a Ford dealership. Peugeot/Citroen Dealerships or specialist do usually also have better knowledge of these engines.
