Error messages about Hill Start Assist and others

Featured Replies

I randomly get error messages about Hill Start Assist, and some others. I've got the below from Forscan, any ideas what the issue could be?

A quick Google shows it could be a broken ABS cable. Is there any way to discern which corner it could be in?

This all started after i gave the wheels a good jet wash with the Karcher, so i'm leaning towards a broken/unplugged cable.

I see this in the PSCM:-SSHFT_TQ_S2: 3.0 Nm - Steering Shaft Torque Sensor #2

Anyone have an idea on this one?

Sorry, I get overwhelmed by posting of the entire Forscan Output when only the exact error codes and basic information about them are actually relevant.
And whilst keeping a record, clearing them and seeing what errors really stick is my strategy.
You say it happened after jet washing so, as you say , ABS sensor wiring or corrosion caused by water ingress to connectors already damaged may be a cause.
AFAIK, I'd look at the live data from ABS sensors (wheel speed) for each wheel to see if there is any one dropping out as a first step?
As Hill Start and other features rely on correct functioning of the ABS sensors at all wheels, it's a pretty strong clue (based on what you have said)?

Cool, good plan, will run forscan whilst in motion and see what comes up

It will record in both the app and laptop version - or get someone else to drive for everyone's safety (and avoid anything illegal)

Voltage is low

Change the battery, clear DTCs, see what come back

I have been experiencing ongoing faults with the vehicle since purchase, including repeated warnings for Hill Start Assist, SOS Malfunction, and Auto Hold Malfunction.

Despite replacing the battery, these issues continue to appear intermittently without warning. The AA attended and advised that the likely cause was an ABS sensor fault, however this has not been properly resolved.

The vehicle has been inspected on two separate occasions—once by Scotia and once by Ace. On both occasions, they carried out diagnostic scans but only reported the fault codes currently showing, without identifying or resolving the underlying issue. I believe the vehicle may be clearing its own fault codes, which is masking the root problem.

The car has also been returned to Ford, where software updates were carried out on the control modules. Despite this, the same faults continue to reoccur.

Overall, the issue remains unresolved and the vehicle is still not functioning as expected.

Thanks for that detailed response buddy. What year is your Focus? Mines a 15 plate, cost me £2.5k from a sole trader, so not really something I'd go to Ford for 😁

Mines was 16.000 and it was a 2020 1.5 d

Ive lossed all faith in the car think its time to give it up and get a new one to meany issues with it

Didnt even have to go for a drive, got the wheel speed sensor data up and left rear is at maximum :D

Left rear is passenger side or drivers side?

Passenger side mate

Left when you're sat in the car. So passengers side on a UK RHD model.

Left rear is as you are sitting in the driver seat, looking forward.

It doesn't matter if it's LH or RH drive it's always on the left.

That's why Ford never say driver or passenger, nearside or offside, just left and right
