Last time I checked a Ford dealer quoted about €1200,- to replace a clutch kit (clutch and release bearing) for a 1.0 EcoBoost.

Just been quoted for clutch and clutch release bearing fitted and labour £964

Not that bad for a Ford dealership.

I just replaced the clutch of our Focus MK3 ST 2.0 EcoBoost. Only costed me €300,- for parts (Sachs clutch kit including release bearing, driveshaft seals, input shaft seal, transmission oil and several torque to yield bolts) and 12 Hours to install it myself. Ford dealership quoted almost €1700,- for this job.

Clutch, clutch release bearing and dual mass flywheel £1250

Does the 1.0 EcoBoost MHEV have a dual mass flywheel at all?

The documentation is not clear about that. The official Magna/Getrag documentation lists that a solid flywheel is used to reduce costs even further. Old Etis versions mention a dual mass flywheel but does not give any details to confirm this. Microcat lists a flywheel that is clearly solid.

On our Focus ST the dual mass flywheel was still in excellent condition. Very little play and not a single hotspot. After a proper inspection and a good clean it was perfectly fine to be re-used.

I believe it does it was £324 extra for the flywheel

The MHEV is based on the 2nd generation (totally revised) 1.0 EcoBoost engine which has never been available with a 5-Speed transmission.

It is either combined with the manual MX65 transmission (which has specifically been designed to be cheap to manufacture, not to be durable) or the 7-Speed Powershift transmission.

The MX65 unfortunately has a lot of known problems and has been discontinued on the 155 HP version of the MHEV because it was not able to handle the power/torque.

The single mass flywheel I posted is from a 125 HP Focus MK4 with the 2nd generation (totally revised) 1.0 EcoBoost engine and the MX65 transmission.

So im assuming my 125 1.0 ford fiesta ecoboost is dual mass fly wheel?

As I said the documentation is contradicting.

The fact that Ford clearly used a single mass flywheel on the much heavier Focus MK4 is usually a sign that other Ford models with the exact same engine type (MHEV or not) also have a single mass flywheel.

The additional price you have been quoted is extremely cheap for an original dual mass flywheel. I would not be surprised if the quoted flywheel is in fact a single mass flywheel.

There is only one way to find out whether the car has a single or dual mass flywheel and that is removal of the transmission.
