2.0Tddi Crank Sensor Location

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I want to replace the the crank sensor on my y reg 2.0tddi however, I am unable to find it.

I found a guide on Google for replacing the sensor on an 02 plate which says. Remove the airbox and the sensor is located on the bellhousing underneath the pipe work.

I have had several looks and had a mate look for it but we are unable 2 find the sensor anywhere.

Can anyone give any guidance as 2 where the sensor may be?

Better late than never! Good old Mr Haynes has done it again and omitted all the difficult steps. I've found myself in the same situation as the OP, removed the air filter box and peered in. No crank sensor to be seen anywhere. Fortunately there's a diamond geezer on youtube called retrorestor who has worked extensively  on his wife's mk3 TDDi, and created several vids. He's the only help I found anywhere. I had to remove the turbo outlet pipe and the egr pipe too. Here's some pics of the offending article. It seems to be almost directly under the egr valve, so I'm hoping it won't get in the way when I try and withdraw it. Anyway, checkout retrorestor on youtube, he's done so many interesting hands-on vids on all manner of subjects.

Here it is on its way out. Happy to report, it clears the egr valve
