Auto Headlights

Featured Replies

hi all hope you can help,my headlights stay on in daylight hours i have to switch off auto yours rexleroy

you might find it's because we live in dark times at the moment. mine stay on when i commute on a morning. to be honest it's safer to err on the side of caution and have them on, than off. in summer, they dont come on until it gets properly dark rather than just grim like now.

ncidentally the light sensor is around the back of the mirror, where it sticks onto the windscreen. try giving the glass on the outside of it a clean and see if that makes a difference (though i suspect it is just because its grim and grey and dull)

I thought the light sensor was the bit at the very front of the dashboard as it turns red etc when light gets on it?

that's also a light sensor but thats for the EATC :) madness i know but check the technical guide!

why would you need a light sensor for the EATC??

i know it's for audis but this might explain it better than me:

SENSORS

The sensors that control the climate control unit are the sun sensor and cabin temperature sensor. The sun sensor is the dome shaped unit located in the middle of the defrost vents on top of the dash. This adjusts the climate control system to compensate for the hot sun glaring into your car. The cabin air temperature sensor measures the cabin temperature by the small vent that is located above the climate controls.

Ah! makes perfect sense!

My lights have been staying on more often recently. The clouds and the sun being low means that the sensor stays in shadow more. The lights will stay on once they are on rather than turn off prematurely otherwise you would drive down the road with them flashing on and off!

Cheers

thanks very much for replies all makes sense now

I've just purchased a 2015 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 yesterday and I love it! Can anyone just confirm that the headlights automatically stay on when I'm driving it as I cannot seem to find this information in the handbook.

Fiesta Zetecs don't have auto lights - must be the DRL's

Sorry - what are DRLs please? I'm not technically minded!

Daytime Running Lights.

If they are not LEDs, it looks like the sidelights are on all the time.

Daylight Running Lights / Lamps - LEDs on 2015 Zetec iirc

Oh, that explains it then! I didn't realise this model had them.

Thanks so much for the information.
