my temperature gauge doesn't work

Featured Replies

i have a mk4 fiesta 1.25 zetec and the temperature guage doesn't work. its not the thermostat stuck open as im getting hot air coming through the wire that connects to the temp sensor is fine i've checked that with a multimeter i got myself another temp sensor but i cant get a reading off either sensor with the multimeter i dont know if thats because im doing it wrong if you take the wire off the temp sensor the fan comes on but im starting to get a bit concerned as the fan doesn't kick in by itself if the cars left static im worried that it might overheat anyone know whats wrong.

to check the gauge and wireing pull off the wire and earth it with the ignition on, the gauge should go onto the red. if this is ok the sensor is faulty.
