Door Locking without a battery

Hi and thanks in advance for your advice:

I'm going to be placing my 1998 Fiesta in storage for a while and will be disconnecting the battery. A couple of questions about the vacuum door locking system: What happens to the door locks (will they still remain locked?) after the vacuum is gone (the car will be stored for many months)? And, with the battery removed, if the door is opened (and there is no vacuum), how can they be locked again?

It's probably a simple question but, I want to be certain before I leave town.

Thanks.
