stephen moran
Hi , I have a 2003 Mondeo tdci.It has just failed it`s mot due to air-bag warning light been on. Today, I have had it on a diagnostic machine and the fault has come up with - impact sensor code 2296. How do I go about removing this code ?. The light came on about a year ago when I foolishly decided to adjust the steering wheel whilst driving. Thanks for any help.
Stoney871
I'd say that it's not the sensor that's at fault but most likely a damaged/pulled wire in your steering column somewhere due to slamming the wheels position while moving. Get an auto electrician to trace the wiring from your steering wheel airbag down into the main loom. If you get tempted to look yourself please disconnect the battery for at least 20 minutes prior to pulling wires about or you may accidentally deploy your airbags. jeebowhite
start off simple and clear the DTC codes in your car, then proceed from there!
