Might be a silly question, but I have bought a plastic "v" or "u" silver trim so I can paint it black to match radio facia, but as it got delivered from the breakers I've realised it's got controls on each side instead of just the left :/ will I still be able to paint and fit it okay ? but obviously just have the right hand side controls as a dummy control, just aesthetic ? Or will it not fit my steering wheel ?

Yes it has them right and left, so can swap my left over no problem because I think there different, but can I leave the right one as a dummy ? and it still fit the steering wheel

You've bought one with audio and cruise control. Depending on how much you paid you may get more money selling it to someone who wants cruise control and then buying the one you want. Unless you just like the symmetry ;)

Yehh was hard to get one seperated from a steering wheel and tbh I do quite like the symmetry :) Hahaa, but will it definately fit my wheel and just obvs have a dummy cruise control ?

Can't say for certain that a MK7 fits a MK7.5 as not heard of it being tried before.

Remember you'd have to swap the buttons over otherwise they'd be red instead of blue!

Looking at pictures it looks identical so can't see it being a different steering wheel etc :) yehhh il just swap the left hand side over so that's normal and leave the right hand as a dummy, unless I can swap it with anyone with a mk7 who wants a double ? Hahaa :)

Just managed to get hold of a partial leather steering wheel with only left hand side controls on ebay, so il switch the trim when it arrives and sell as a double controller steering wheel :)

Nathan, you don't by any chance still have the trim with both sets of controls?

can I ask where you got the trim from, I've rung a few yards and they only sell the steering wheel as a whole ?

Yehh I had the same problem, I've got my original silver one and then a spare I had sprayed black, but got lucky with a breakers who sold it me seperate. Might be worth buying a wheel and selling back on without it ? or keep trying ebay breakers and local ones :)

think ive managed to get hold of 1, its from a mk7 so the lights will be red instead of blue not too bothered about that as the ambient lights are red so will match. did the mk7 fit onto the 7.5 ok? and how did you go about removing and replacing the trim?

the st-2 ive ordered doesn't come with cruise control from factory, so dealer said they may be able to do it when the car arrives, but they need me to buy the trim as they don't supply it as a part on its own.

Yes it's exactly the same trim, there's three torx screws behind :) one in the bottom middle and one on each side.

P.s the st has red lights anyway not blue like the zs ?
