Dodgy Reversing Switch?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My mondeo tdci 2009 has started to be a bit iffy when going into reverse. The gears engagement is fine but the lights/rear parking system dont always come on.

It seems that that if I put it into reverse and pull the gear stick back an inch they will fire up.

So does that mean there is an adjustment that can be made, as the switch would seem to be OK. The gear stick has always been 'stiff' when going tinto reverse and there is no 'slopp'!

Thanks for any info

nick

yeah sounds like the gear linkage, I am not sure though how easy it is to do this yourself...

Hi jeebowhite

Thanks

Sounds expensive :(

What sort of process is involved? I used to rebuild engines in my youth although I don't fancy going that far with my mondeo!

I haven't had any personal experience, but I believe its a case of remove centre console and work from there...
