H have had a few problems with my mondeo since I got it 6 month ago. I had to call the rac out not long ago and he said can you take pictures on your phone as there is too much to wright down. It turned out to be the starter motor. My car is still cutting out all the time and I have cleaned the egr valve (about 1cm thick all the way round) the ones I think it is and not sure where to start is all 4 cylinders are above knock threshold and all 4 injectors have open circuits. Please help me lol.

get an injector leak off test done as this will show you how bad the injectors are, also remove the crank sensor and check it for iron filings as these could block the signal for the ecu.

Thanks for reply I have had the crank sensor out of it it it had hydraulis fluid all over it from when the slave cylinder went. I thought they would have cleaned it when fitting a new one but never mind. The flywheel is also on its was out so could this cause any froblems if the crank sensor cant read it properly that was cos of it rattling. I will take it for a leak off test but thwn I had a look all the connections looked dry off the injectors and the rail.

Did you replace the DMF(dual mass flywheel), and 2 main parts of the clutch when the CSC (concentric slave cylinder) ?

the DMF can start to break up over time, the dust can choke up the starter motor, causing it to stop engaging the flywheel, the metal swarf can also interfere with the (magnetised) crank position sensor, as the DMF breaks up it can cause increased vibratiion that may affect the sensor/ timing

Also if the DMF/ clutch/ CSC is changed and the swarf is not cleaned out properly it can also continue to cause problems

When the csc was changed they just left the flywheel and said the clutch looked new. They had my eyes out when I bought the car. Could it be the imv with it being all 4 cylinders and injectors that are on the diagnostic.

Most good mechanics / garages would change the DMF and clutch if the CSC was changed,(the whole lot at once, its "bad practice" not to) its a big, expensive job to open the gearbox, and by the time the CSC fails its probably time for a new DMF/ clutch anyway

The DMF has a limited lifespan/ milage

The fluid and swarf would be cleaned out too as (previously mentioned) the swarf from the DMF can choke up the starter motor (engagement mech) and the crank position sensor, + the hydralic(brake) fluid from the CSC can also contaminate the clutch, causing it to slip

When I took the crank sensor out it was covered in fluid but all I could do is clean it off at the time. I rang the place I got it from and and said im not happy about the car I hadnt had it a month and they put off till just over a month then said to the garage he used and said I only want you to replace the parts to get it driving again. Would it be worth converting to smf as full lot is going to have to be done after xmas. Just going to have to put up with it till then.

Just a quick update. My car drives well if I only press the accelorater about quarter of the way any more than that and the light comes on and cuts out. Also if its parked on a hill either facing up or down it struggles to start.

Quick updaye again guts. It seems to be worse with less fuel in the tank. Any ideas. From the posts I have read could it be the imv on the fuel pump.
