Suspension Front Springs

Featured Replies

Changed oil last night, drove out of my close, 100 yards, and drove over a tree branch, blown in the high winds. The thing seems to have gone up the wheel arch and unseated the base of the spring from the cup on the upper end of the lower section of the strut. The car runs and brakes in a straight line. Visually, the spring is pushed in towards the engine bay by about 1 inch, so it's out of the cup at the bottom of the spring and it is pushing hard on the damper seal.

Question is does anybody know how to get it back in place?

Ta muchly.

You would need to loosen the suspension arm I expect and re-seat it.

I was considering laying my hands on a pair of spring compressors and reseating the spring that way. Are there any problems doing it that way??

Cant see there being a problem doing that as long as you have room to do get the compressors in there.

agree with Bruce on this one, as long as the space is there, its the easiest bet!
