1.6 Tdci, How To Crank Engine Without Starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

Nearly completed a recon turbo install and want to prime the feed pipe/turbo with oil and make sure its getting thru ok.

So I want to turn it over a few times but definitely do not want it to start, how can I manage that safely?

Thanks.

Unplug the injector harness to the common rail.

Thanks for that but looking at it im not too sure where you mean. Is it a connector to unplug somewhere?

Been having another look but cant figure out where and what to unhook. Will unclipping the clip on each injector do the same thing. Getting desperate now as want to prime first and then start it to see if all my hard work has worked!

I think you'll need to remove the battery box to get to the plug.

Search youtube, bound to be a video on how to do it there.

Thanks Stoney, much appreciated. Managed to do it but it was very awkward to get to and unhook. With the help of my daughters makeup mirror (to see what type of clip it was) and a hooked piece of strong wire I undid the connector.

Turned it over a few times to make sure oil was coming out of the oil feed banjo that I had left undone. Torqued it back up, turned over again a few more times and then put the connector back.

Glad to help.

I assume everything is running fine then?

Pity you didn't have a 1.8, the injector plug is at the front (helped two mates fit tuning boxes recently so know exactly where the beggars are :))

great stuff guys, i'm gonna be doing the same thing tomorrow however my battery is alredy out of the car from trying to reach the egr valve which had stopped working properly, not the valve itself but the stepper motor which was not turning properly until i loosened the screws on it for it to turn freely forwards and back.....it seems ok now after i tested it manually from the battery, now i hope it works fine once ive put it back in.
