Engine Overheating Maybe ?

Featured Replies

hi guys,

54 reg focus 1.6tdci.

this car has the manual gauge for reading temperature (60 - 120) but also has the digital self diagnostics

in the self diagnostics it shows engine temperature at a higher value than the manual guage.

i.e 115C compared to 75C

is this normal ?

I would say that the digital reading might be the engine (oil?) temperature where as the gauge being the coolant temperature.

115c is normal for operating temp of the engine, the engine temp sensor that is in the dash test mode is different from the coolant temp on the instrument cluster

as above thats the head temperature which measures 40 degrees higher than the coolant temp shown on the gauge
