Drl Project !!!

Featured Replies

Ok, so I've been pondering the idea for a while now, and had decided I would try them in the lower grille, but upon trying them, I didn't think they looked right, too close together, and to low.

So I took a bit of a drastic approach and decided ''no guts, no glory'' got the masking tape out, made a template of the lights profile, then got the trusty old dremel out, and set to work butchering my bumper haha . After a while, the holes were cut, and ready to take the lights, test fit was a success first time.

So I then set about fitting the DRL relay, wanted this done right. So opted for one that put the lights on when engine is started, and dimmed to 30% brightness when the main lights come on. They even stay on for around 20 seconds when I get out of the car, Nice little touch I thought. Anyway, thats enough going on, what do you guys think ??? I'm pleased with the results.......

Cheers,,,, It was a very nervous time, com i'm a bit OCD, and if they hadn't turned out even each side, I'd have been on the hunt for a new bumper. Picture was a bit rushed (was chucking it down with rain) so hoping to get some better shots. Already had a stranger approach me on tesco car park to enquire about them, and asked if i'd be interested in fitting a set,,,,,,, but its not really a job I'd want to tackle on anybody else's car lol.

On this subject,,,,,,, can anyone help me ??? My car is the Titanium model, with auto lights. Now, the relay I got for my DRL's had 2 spare wires, stating to wire to left and right indicators, to flash on unlocking the car. Now my question is,,,,,, when I unlock the car, my side lights are illuminated for a short period, would it be possible to wire the DRL's into these, or would it interfere with the relays workings,,,,? I currently have them wired into the headlights, so they only dim when these are on NOT the sidelights. Any electrical boffins here who can point me in the right direction ???

My thought would be if you wired into indicators, every time you indicate it will effect them? Another method could be the interior light, as that also comes on when unlocked.

Don't normally like after market DRL's, but I like these :)

Nice job.
