Please Help!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Had a fuel leak on my 1.6 tdci, narrowed it down to being the injector seal. Replaced it only on the 1 injector that was the issue. However since doing the repair, my MPG has crashed! When it had the leak, I was averaging 63 mpg, now the screen is indication 47!! Any one have any ideas please? I have to get over 60 for the ravel to work as I do 110 miles round trip.

Thanks in advance.

Don't you have to get Diesel fuel injectors re-programmed? you do on Renaults.

No they don't need reprogramming on these, plus I have cleared off any fault codes that where showing.

What were the faults?

They came up as n/a on my handheld reader

I'd suggest resetting the trip computer, including the mpg indicator, and fill up the car, and work out the miles you get to a full tank. Drive as you normally would, and the computer may well pull itself back into line.

63mpg. You were lucky must have been driving with a very light foot.. I had a 1,6 tdci and I only ever averaged 47mpg. My 7.5 Fiesta 1.6 tdci only shows an average of 47mpg.

I only ever do motorway miles in it, it never does town journeys as it is just the work horse!

This is a weird fault.... It seems to sound a bit knocky and smokey now, and when I try and accelerate it shakes and Judders until it gets over 1700 rpm. I am going to service it end of this month as the air filter is almost black and Christ knows when it was last done before I bought it, but was sat for about 8 months prior to me getting it! Could this really make that much difference?

My computer has now got up to 53, but I do think the mileage and fuel usage will add up to higher once I refuel!

Any one think of anything I have missed??

Once you do the service (air filter, oil/filter, and fuel filter) it may be worth re-setting the ECU, so it "relearns", then reset your trip computer a couple of trips after that (to give it a chance to "settle down") hopefully, the MPG will have improved by then

That is what I was thinking to do, get it all serviced and see what happens!

Anything you can think of for the juddering and shaking at low rpm? I was thinking, could it be the fuel/air mix affecting it because of the filters??

Possibly - or it may be the DMF, if one is fitted

The ECU is a "learning" type and once the new filters are installed the ECU can "start from scratch" again, if it is reset with benifits to drivability, smoothness economy etc

May also be worth getting the fault codes read/ aquiring a code reader, can save a lot of time/ money/ hassle in the long run

DMF... That would be awesome 😭😭

I think I will just go for a good service and go from there.

Thanks.

Clearing an unknown fault won't solve a problem. I'd suggest getting them read, they will still be present on there, and seeing what they say first.
