05 Focus Heater Matrix - Garage Repair Cost

Featured Replies

Hi - couldn't see this anywhere else so thought I'd better post a new thread.

We have a 05 Focus 1.6 Petrol which needs the heater matrix replacing. We were quoted £700 inc VAT from our normal garage on the basis that they think it'll take 8.5hrs to do. Ford dealer quoted £618 with a 4.5 hr labour time.

Got some quotes from other local garages and one has come back at £250 inc VAT. I asked why they were so much cheaper and they said that they only charge £35/hr for labour so they often come out cheap. They are recommended on the good garage scheme site with 95% positive reviews (this is how I found them).

The part that needs replacing is around the £140 inc VAT mark apparently.

Is the £250 quote too good to be true or is it worth doing with them. They have said the part is guaranteed for 1 year. Is there anything else I should be asking them?

Thanks in advance!
