Converse Distance Till Empty

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 60 plate mk 4 mondeo titanium 2.0 diesel with the converse system, had the car 5 months and till 2 weeks ago has run with no problemss, but then limp mode came on and ended up last week having a new DPF vaporiser installed, it was failing the DPF regens, all ok with that now new vaporiser fitted, well so far.

Now im finding the distance till empty, mpg works for about a minutes worth of driving after start up then vanishes leaving just dashes on the screen, the fuel gauge still works and seems to be sppppot on. Has any one had this before?

That's odd, and a bit of a PITA, but one possibility might still be the wiring to the tank level sensor. The dash display is very heavily filtered, so if the tank signal is intermittent, that may well cause the remaining distance to be all over the place without being enough to affect the dash display. Particularly so if it goes open circuit or outside the normally allowed range.

The trouble is that I suspect that there is also something that I don't know that links some way into the vaporiser. The vaporiser does use fuel, so you'd suspect that there is at least the possibility that if you are getting the wrong signal back, the computer doesn't know how much fuel is being consumed. It would know how much is being consumed via the four normal injectors, but not via the fifth. Presumably, then, the system wouldn't ignore the fifth injector signal, but would just give up on calculating the range.

Now, not knowing enough about this, I'd have to suggest checking the wiring, and having done that try a big reset by disconnecting the battery (having the radio code to hand first, of course). Beyond that, I'm currently out of good ideas.

Hi sorry to drag this old thread up but I’m having the exact same issue with the exact same parts changed, mines 11 plate though. Did you ever manage to resolve this issue?
