I think we have tried so many things Mick I have forgot half of what we have done. Going to try the fuel rail sensor next I think. Then if that dosnt work. it will be the fuel rail itself.

Although I am hoping it is the fuel rail as one of the coded was Fuel rail system pressure too low.

Fuel pressure regulator performance

Well that's the car up and running again.

Just an up date for future references incase anyone else has the same problem.

Even though the fuel filter was only 3 or 4 weeks old I thought that is the cheapest option to me through the elimination process.

On the rubber seal at the top of the fuel filter housing there was the slightest little mark/crack. I do mean ever so slightest. but obviously enough to cause air into the system.

Hands up on the fact it was just sheer luck on noticing this little mark/crack on the rubber seal.

I think what was throwing me was the fact the fuel filter wasn't long changed. and there was no symptoms of the car drawing air before it just didn't want to go.

Anyway once again thanks to all the suggestions and advice given as it was greatly appreciated.

Cheers

glad you got it working again mate.

Actually that is a very good check, had a sprinter that had been serviced and the seal on the fuel filter had been trapped when it was tightened up, same symptoms as you described, never even thought of that until you mentioned it.

Yeah it's a common problem, changing the filter is easy but not trapping or damaging the seals is the hardest part

Yes it is easy to trap the seal when putting it all back together.

But if that had happened when the filter was 1st changed.

Surely it wouldnt have run from the start. Car must have did about 500 miles at least before breaking down.

Cheers Sal

Nah, as the dry seal is fine and helps to keep the seal but as fuel gets in and pushed through under pressure it dampens the seal and reduces it

And make sur you have a hand primer before you take the filter off. I didn't and couldn't get rid of the air lock.

the only way I could get it started again was to toe it down the road in second gear :)
