Hi Guys,

 

My ford focus mk2 - 2006 (petrol) has been going into limp mode since Nov 16.

I am doing about 60 miles a day, round trip.

3 times on the way to work and 3 times on the way back.

I do about 40 mins of driving before the limp mode kicks in.

After googling the symptoms:

HT leads
Ignition Coil
Throttle Body
Wiring Loom
Instrument Cluster

I changed the HT leads and was about to replace the ignition coil, I couldnt remove 3 of the bolts, as they were rounded off.

So i took it to my local mechanic and explained the problem.  He said it cant be the ignition coil, as the problem would occur straight after start up.

I was advised to take it to an auto electrician.

This I did and was advised that its the instrument cluster.  As this was 1 of the problems that came up on my google search.  I was kind of relieved - (£30.00).

I removed the instrument cluster and got it repaired - (£80.00)

So far, so good.

Drove 30 miles to work this morning with no problem.

If the limp mode comes back, I will post again.
 

 

Hi do these ti vct system go alot on what kind of mileage. I've had few Mondeo's then fancied a change to a focus. Kind wished stayed with Mondeo's now.

I had my speed limited malfunction come up called rac had few faults come up. They said it was my throttle sensor so I got that changed and after few weeks it's come back on now?
