2010 2.0 Tdci Oil Change

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Does the cover underneath the engine need to be removed to access the sump plug at all? I'm really hoping that it is accessible with the cover in situ.

Cheers!

Kye

yes

Yep, if you cant undo a few screws then you really shouldnt be let loose with a spanner to let oil out. Lol

Balls. Good design there, Ford. Okey dokey, i've got no issues with doing that.

its only 6? Torx screws anyway its nothing major

Not sure what design you were expecting really.

It must surely be one of the easiest oil changes by the way. Even I can do it.

Though only 4 of the undertray torx remain - 2 are now nuts with big washers :)

some cars have a little flap just under the oil drain plug, just open the flap and drain the oil :)

Hello, Nexus.

I'm hoping that will be the case. It is a lot of potential faff for a very simple task. A task that is 'regularly' carried out as well.

We'll see in a day or two.

It's still pretty easy - honestly. I just roll it onto a couple of planks of wood rather than ramps. Plenty of room and although the undertray sounds like a diaster it's really not - fairly easy to put back on - just slides back in and in with the torx.

Ahh... fair enough. Yeah the focus doesn't! Would be useful!

something like this!

Hello all.

Just a quick one. Is it a left or right handed thread to undo?? Last think I want to do is try and undo a stiff bolt and stuff the head up! I have an 8mm allen key ratchet job to fit in.

Cheers!

i think you should take it to a garage to get it changed lol

righty tighty lefty loosy :)

just be thankful its not the 1.6tdci (or is it?), need to remove half the car to get the oil filter off! That's a slight exaggeration but still, its a small pain in the bum compared to anything else ive worked on!

make sure its not the transmition oil your emptying as well!

Garage might well be good to keep in mind...

Nice one, Dee. That is in keeping with my thought for it as well. I do have another bolt that is for the sump (so ebay says! I'll tread carefully)

I'm happy with the rest of it. It's just the plug I'm worried about. I have been reading that some 2.) TDCi engines are the opposite. The C-Max is one of them. Once I've eased it off a bit, the rest should be simples. :)

are you doing the filter as well

should do fuel filter also and pollen one inside car
