Diagnostic Device?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I'm new to the site so sorry if this has been answered already.

I'm looking getting a diagnostic hand held or software (laptop) for my wife's 2002 Focuse 1.8

What type/make would you recommend?

Would like something that could read codes/clear codes/ABS/Air bag/EML etc...

Thanks in advance

Elmconfig and forscan and an modified ELM is cheap and a good start. Forscan is almost as good as IDS and elmconfig allows you to do stuff that forscan can't.

I have IDS forscan and elmconfig with a ELM and also a Chinese clone VCM. All for around £260 and that included a cheap laptop. Depends how much you want to be able to do.

look on ebay/amazon for a bluetooth obd2 scanner - under £10. then dowload the torque app and use that to scan and delete codes.

What Simon is selling is a much better product and will give you a lot more options. My option is basic but is enough for me.

A generic OBD device won't tell you half of what you need to know, I know I have an OBD scanner that cost £60 an Autel Maxiscan MS509, it's good and does some OEM code definitions, but 9 times out of ten it wont pick up error codes that proper software will do.

For the cost of a modified ELM interface and using forscan and elmconfig it is the best option and an amazing price.

Not sure why you think I am selling them though unless you mean selling the idea of course.

thats what i meant to say !!!

i thought you were selling it due to you stating "all around £260 including a laptop". My Bad :-(

Lol no the vcm clone with laptop cost me from memory just over £250 and I think the ELM cost me £15. But either way still worth every penny.
