stephenw
Hi, wanted to see if anyone can advise on this? My car started stalling on a long journey. Then would not start. Called an electrics specialist who put it on an electric test and found nothing wrong but offered to look at it in his garage. When firing it up once saw a cloud of white smoke from exhaust, When towed it to his garage he said the head gasket was gone and I paid £560 for change (+ cam belt). When driving the car home from the garage it stalled six times so original problem unchanged. Could it be a wrong diagnosis on the head gasket? If anyone who knows mechanics has any thoughts I would welcome any. Steve
supercmaxer
Is it a diesel? Failed turbos give out white smoke.
stephenw
Thanks for reply. No it is a petrol engine. Steve
jeebowhite
I think either its a wrong diagnosis or the guy stuffed something else up. How reputable was the garage? I would say take it back to them and shove it in his face tell him to sort it...
