1999 1.3 Fiesta Finesse temperature problems.

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is my first post.

After two years of niggling problems with my gf's Fiesta and money thrown at it as a result I'm seeking some advice.

Not sure if this is related to the current problem, but about two years ago we had the heater valve replaced as it seemed to be stuck on freezing cold. This worked for about two days, so we had another one. Worked for a week then we were stuck on hot. Then another one and we replaced the heater control panel...happy days worked fine ever since.

About 6 weeks ago we started getting red hot air again, didn't matter what the temp setting was. This seemed to be linked to standing in traffic. The Finesse has no temp gauge so difficult to know what was going on, although the standing traffic thing seemed to suggest an engine o/heating issue. The fan certainly wasn't cutting in but there was no coolant explosion either.

Last week had a new temp sensor fitted, all was well. But now we're back to extreme heat again after a short stand in traffic or an up hill run. Could just be the new temp sensor is not 100% and needs replacement but I have a feeling that there is something more serious underlying all this. The car is off to a new home a in a couple of weeks and I'd like to get it sorted if poss.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

What temperature sensor was replaced? as you say there is no temperature guage?

if the heater is staying hot its the valve stuck open, the one controlled by a cable from the heater control to rear of bulkhead.
