Steering Problem Very Strange

Featured Replies

Hi All,

For a number of months the steering has been getting harder even at times sort of grinding. Then for a day for 2 it can be back to being as good as new.

Any ideas?

check the power steering fluid. drain it out & replace with new. if that does not help then replace the power steering motor.

check all linkages under the car are not dry or worn out

Okay well the first one of these is something I could do myself. This is a first I'll give it a go :)

Many Thanks

i would also check the aux belt as that may cause the problem

The grinding noise is usually not enough fluid and the pump is cavitating (sucking in air) it could go away as the fluid heats up as it expands a bit.
