Hi guys, just taken some pics of mine, can you confirm if it's okay? Jennings said that they've checked it and its fine. Thanks.

Yes that's the new one, takes a couple of weeks to come up on the Ford etis site.

Excellent thanks for confirming.

As far as I know, that is the case yes.

Although on my mums, the rubber hose connects back on to the expansion/reservoir tank.

The pics give you a good idea of the old and new style pipes though.

the pic of your mums hose doesnt look right, not seen rubber hose connected in that place on focus, or am i reading this wrong and both pics off piston heads.and your mums hose connects to reservoir?

They are not pics of my mums, but from piston heads.

I was pointing out my mums isn't like that, the pipe doesn't look connected in those pics properly.

The PCM update has done wonders for my car. Picked it up from the Ford garage and had to go straight to Cardiff - literally took off down the M4 :D Didn't realise quite how sluggish it had got and the fuel economy was phenomenal!

I see now, the bottom pic is of a fiesta ecoboost. Thats what confused me. Lol

Didn't know about the recall and my hose give way this weekend, think I noticed relatively quickly as the car gave no warning (temperature gauge stayed the same and no coolant indicator fitted), went to Ford who checked it over and replaced faulty hose with rubber also had full service. Drove the car the next day and the engine gave up after 30 miles, A A man thinks it will require an engine rebuild or new engine as the engine was partly ceased. Currently with Ford who have yet to contact me with the diagnosis.

New engine it will require, still under warranty?

New engine it will require, still under warranty?

Surely if it is a recall they should cover it even if the car is out of warranty?

Im not to sure they would fully pay up. ! If he didnt know anything about recall and no letter sent then they could do, but if letter sent to address and ignored I would doubt they would be so accomodating. This is the benefit of using ford dealers for servicing and repairs etc, any recalls have to be actioned straight away , letter or not , even if you booked car in for a bulb change or the like.

As he said he didnt know about recall, im sure ford will cough up in this instance , esp as the recall hadnt been going for too long.

Car is still under warranty, they have had the car for 2 days now and not heard anything yet. Driving around in a courtesy car. Seemed quite apologetic when the car returned so I assume they are taking full responsibility.

Also had no letter, the guy on the service desk had the same engine and this made him check and that was how he realised his had the same recall, so if the person who works on the Ford service desk was unaware of the recall how was I supposed to know???

I had no warning signs, just that it started to get a bit hot when on the motorway. Car was in the garage 14 weeks... New engine put in £5000 worth done under warranty. They also managed to break my air con and dent the roof of my car!! They fixed the air con and the dent but needs to go back in as I can see where they have painted it! Also now got the new hoses

14 weeks!! I would say I bet thats a record , but no doubt Iit may not be.lol

Dodd021 - I never received a letter either. The dealer said that every time a car comes in to them they check for recalls. My had only just been in for an eco stop/battery fault but apparently my reg no wasn't on the system for a recall at that time, I was told they are put on in batches.

I was also told (quite comfortingly) that although my warranty had run out, a recall is a recall and had I needed a new engine they would have covered the full cost.

Note that the recall is not applicable to all of the 1.0 ECOboost engines. The recall only covers a certain amount of cars equipped with the coolant return hose of the affected production batch. The recall is not applicable to older/newer types of coolant return hose.

Just received a call, fitting a new engine under warranty no questions asked, said it should be ready sometime next week. Overall pretty happy with how they have dealt with the issue.

Yes 14 weeks as the garage kept telling me there was nothing wrong with my car after it broke down... They fitted a new oil cooler and to me that it was fixed... It kept leaking coolant so I kept taking it back, I eventually left it their with them and they used it for a week... Gave it back and told me nothing wrong with it, did 7 miles and no coolant left in it so took it back, they eventually admitted there was something wrong with it and got a ford technician out to it.... Head gasket... Needed a new engine!! Had to be investigated and then recall came out on ford Eco boost.. All this because of a hose that wasn't up to its job and neither were the ford garage I took it to!

Hadn't received a letter about the recall so had no idea about the problem. Was on the M1 southbound when the engine malfunction light came on and steam started to rise from the bonnet. RAC couldn't resurrect things and suspected a head gasket gone, maybe total engine failure. The care was 10 days out of warranty and the last service was done 14000 miles after the previous service. I was bricking myself.

Ford were excellent, told me it was all covered under warranty due to the recall and replaced the engine in less than 2 weeks.

The hose can gone at 29,750.
