Problems with the key fob ...

From a 2004 SportKA and its the 3 button remote key - the buttons on the key stopped working yesterday but the car can be opened manually and started ok.

I changed the battery in the fob thinking it was dead but still no joy - do these keys lose the link to the car some times and need re-linking?

It also came with just the one key so am thinking about having another cut - anyone know the cost of this or where it can be done (I was thinking Timpsons?). We only need a normal spare just in case anything happens to the master.

goto fords as they supply & recode for about £100. timpsons maybe able to cut a key but you need to have the chip in it and coded for it to work.

ford £30.00 for the key then £60.00 for the coding or thereabouts. if you goto ford atleast you know it will work or they will get it to work

Timpsons and other good key places can clone the code off older Fords and rewrite it to a new key. I used to work in such a place that did this.

if timpsons can do it & recode the key happy days. first port of call is phone fords for a price inc vat then goto timpsons for a price
