Streetka Pulls Left Under Acceleration Goes Right When Off The Gas

Featured Replies

Hi,

Wonder if someone can help, just test driven a 2005 Streetka I'm thinking about getting for the Mrs, only had 36000 on the clock and everything looked ok apart from when I drove it (and I'd just come from another test drive) it felt "loose" on the road, seemed to be drifting about.

Further driving showed that on acceleration it pulled to the left and when I came off the gas it went to the right.

Anyone any ideas? Car looks good apart from this oh and the air on not working!

Cheers

Front suspension lower wishbone bushes gone?

Reading various topics this does sound possible although apparently it went through an MOT only recently!!

Surely that should of been picked up!

troy 35 is pretty much spot on. i would also drive it over bumpy roads without stereo to listen out for noises. but i would defo say front wishbone or similar

Went over speed bumps it's the first one I've driven that doesn't knock! !

Like I said surprised MOT didn't pick it up!!!

may need the wheel alignement checking. cheapest option to get done as most kwikfit garages will do it for free

New Wishbones have sorted the issue.

Cheers All.

what was the total cost of car and wishbones then?

  • Author

Paid £1250 for the Car, Virtually Mint both Body and Roof. Wishbones we're under £20 a side from Eurocarparts. Plus fitting which was fairly cheap as I know a Good Mechanic!! Had other work done with him too so can't tell you exact cost of replacing them

now thats a good deal!

Yep, totally transformed the car. Didn't really want the Mrs to drive it until I got it sorted as it was all over the place beforehand. now feels fairly planted for what it is.

Got to say I'm quite impressed with the Drive of it, I've got a 2012 Skoda Octavia VRS and the Streetka is quite fun, JUst sold a 2010 VW EOS to get the VRS and Mrs. within a week was missing the Convertible so bought this as a third car just as a cheap play thing for the Summer. Think I'm in the good books and for a bargain price!! lol

good result all round, good books, good car, and transferring to the blue oval!

Lol.. Yeh very good result really, has been a long time since I've had a "Blue Oval" one of my first cars was a 2.0 Litre Mk1 Escort nearly 30 years ago!! Then had a Limited Edition Escort Convertible around 1990, then a Escort RS Turbo. a couple of years after that, wish I still had the Mk1 and RS Turbo now!! lol

Still a bit of a VAG convert now though but who knows what the future brings with the Focus ST Diesel!!

hopefully we will see pictures of your new toy very soon! :p

Cheers, yeh I know, I do drive a hard bargain!! Lol

Helps when there's a few around, was up for 1750 so did quite well.

Oh and I know I probably only paid. £25 for the wishbones to be fitted judging by the final bill and the other work on my old truck I had done! 😉
