Boot Leak?

Featured Replies

Bit strange but my boot is wet only in the centre aft of boot. Washed car earlier plus all the rain before hand and there was a small pool of water on the trim centre in the boot. Where the lock lines up with trim is where the water collects. I had a quick look at the lock and it looked a little damp.

So not sure what's happening or where it's leaking from. I may have to take the boot liner off and get a load of water on the boot to see where it goes.

Any thoughts on this?

Many Thanks

Ryan.

I seemed to have something similar once in my fiesta after I'd washed it and I later worked out it was when I opened the boot the water ran in slightly

Boot leak is fixed! Best thing about it was that it cost nothing to fix. A bit of sealant from work and happy days. It turns out after loads of water in all sorts of places that it was comi g through the tail light. So I took the tail light out and the seal had come away from the lamp assembly. So cleaned that and the surrounding area, 'resealed the light by running a small bead of sealant and the seal resess, stuck the seal back on, ran a bead around the new to eliminate any small gaps that the old deal had left and hey presto!

In all took about two hours to do but well worth it. Only now I need to sort out the corrosion is has left in the boot. It's only light but very annoying and because I know about it.

Good to hear it's sorted bud, surely you can just give the corrosion a sand down and spray it or just touch it in with the paint

Thank you. I'm glad it's done. I just hope it doesn't leak anymore.

The corrosion well I could sand it but it would be quicker with scotch discs.

This is what it looks like.

So get rid of rust. Treat the area, primer (green from work and it will be an etch primer then paint and that should cover it.
