right so mrs bought a focus, is a 1.8 2001, and she didnt think anything of it and its severly underpowered, not showing a misfire at all no fault codes etc. so i thought it maybe the coil pack and changed it no different, shoved some cataclean for !Removed! and giggles in case its blocking up. i pulled out the receipts and found ther following

• new MAF sensor
• ht leads
• plugs

looking around there are alot of new jubilees on the car and behind the throttle body there are two pipes that have been badly capped off, curious to know where the go to as i like everything original, maybe its causing vacuum leak. as for the car no stumbles etc idles perfect it wont go over 4k revs and take its time getting ther, every now and again i can hear like keys rattling only way i can describe it not to worried about that. also i suspect the exhaust need replacing as i can shake the tail pipe and sounds like there are stone rattling around

you cat has broken up and partially blocking exhaust therefore reducing exhaust flow which will give poor power ,engine reving

A blockage in the exhaust would slow a car right down, my mate has a crap civic which had a blocked back box, we thought it had cleared and seemed like the clutch was gone, made noise but just barely moved. After Mr Clutch had it in, they took it out for diagnosis, and was under instruction to thrash it. They did, and the back box exploded. It has been replaced now and drives sweet again.
