Stock Battery Jump Connectors

Featured Replies

Howdy,

Trying to jump start a friends car from mine, have removed the battery cover but i've got quite a bit of corrosion on my terminals to the point I can't actually see what the one accessible terminal is.

the battery in question is one of the below

first time doing a jump, does anyone know which lead would be put on the front terminal and where the other lead would attach?

cheers

on the donor car, clip the lead onto a ground near the battery, i think thats the best practise

might be a bit of a squeeze to get the negative back there but will give it a whirl!

NO, put the positive on the front terminal and the negative on the body mount point to the right of the battery where the big black wires go, or any engine or body connection

DO NOT connect to the rear battery terminal ever, that's the reason its covered and difficult to get to

Doing do will bypass the battery monitoring electrics and the car will not calculate the state of charge for the battery correctly. you will then need to go through the battery calibration routine

As above :)

Simple answer-

DO NOT JUMP START ANY CAR FROM YOURS.!!

You run the risk of frying your ECU which will cost shedloads to replace.

Use a booster pack or nothing at all.

I threw away my jump leads and bought a half decent booster pack.
