I think I read somewhere that this car shouldn't engage 5th gear until about 44mph for above car, I've found on level roads it can run comfortably in 5th gear without labouring between 30/35 mph and revs at approx 11/1200, only coming down the gears when needed ie; slowing traffic ahead. Obviously some smooth and light acceleration needed to acheive this but it can be quite a saving in fuel.

I'm wondering how many other focus owners engage 5th at slow speed (30-40 mph) and low revs around 1100/1200 rpm without the engine labouring.
