The original Ford driver side mat for the Mk 3 Focus is very poor and offers no protection for the carpet under the pedals. Has anyone found a better alternative? I've even contacted Ford and expressed my disappointment in their "not fit for purpose" mat. All the independent manufacturers I've found follow the Ford pattern.

Mats font go under the pedals as it creates a safety hazard pedals have been known to jam and stick on the mats so all car mats will stop before the pedals to prevent this

They have improved this on the facelift mk3.5, adding extra protection.

If it is not part of the carpet, it might be possible to add this or something similar to a mk3

The mats for the MK3 and MK3.5 are the same.

But, they have added extra protection on top of the carpet just behind the pedals.

I don't know if it is possible to get this protection as a part, or if it would require a complete new carpet....

Thanks again, Alex. I was hoping that they had just redesigned the mat. The mats for the Mk3.5 look longer, but I've contacted a manufacturer and they've told me that they won't fit the Mk3. Disappointing!

The Mk3 and Mk3.5 mats should be identical, same floor pan.

They only added that bit of protection and made the carpet a bit thicker...

Car Mats UK say the fixings are in different places Alex. Maybe I'll check with my local Ford dealership.

I bought mats for a MK3 and they fit fine...

Both the same fitting layout on the mk3 and 3.5.
