Focus Mk 2.5 Broken Front Wheel Bearing And Vibration During Braking?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Few questions related to broken front wheel bearing of Ford Focus mk 2.5 (2008). I recently bought new tires and noticed some "humming" sound. Initially thought that it came from the tires, but now it's getting louder and my guess is that it probably is broken front wheel bearing. Sound is very similar to my wife's Octavia when she had broken bearing.

I also recently bought (~3000 kms ago) new brake rotors and brake pads. Now I noticed some vibration / shaking during braking. I noticed it just recently, so I was wondering that is it possible to have this kind of vibration due to broken wheel bearing? I really can't figure out any other reason because the rotors and pads are as good as new.

Any ideas?

not saying it is but kicking the balls out of the breaks when new can warp the discs, they should be broken in slowly without dumping 900 psi in to them at the first opportunity but if that was 3000k ago then its probably not that, I think some folk have said they have had some bad luck with rotas as well, if you get the wheel off then rotate them and see if you can see anything .

if it were the hubs id have thought you would notice vibration most of the time, not just when braking.

I got two crappy tires on my fronts and the racket they make is awful, seems to be certain road surfaces that does it too, I thought at one point it was the turbo whining but its not, just the tires.
