Accident Repair

Featured Replies

So someone decided to hit and scrape along the offside rear corner of my dads 2014 Focus earlier. There's a pretty big dent in the rear quarter panel, deep enough that part of the tyre can be seen looking down from above (but not the tread), and the paint has come off in one place and split where the fold is which forms the door jamb. The door, quarter panel and bumper have loads of scrapes and missing paint all over them and there's a few gouges in the wheel too.

Can damage like that to the quarter panel be repaired, or if not can it be replaced? It's obviously a pretty big panel going all the way along the roof to the front and round the door etc so I don't really see that being switched out easily. Also do you think there could be any suspension damage bearing in mind the wheel was scraped against hard enough to leave some deep marks in it? It drives ok apart from the wheel arch lining catching the tyre when going over bumps, no noise from the bearings or anything.

It's going through insurance to be repaired of course but I just wanted to get an idea of what might be able to be done with it, cheers.

A mate of mine had his Mondeo estate clobbered by a motorbike on his rear quarter and because the rear wings and roof are one piece he had to get the whole lot replaced.

Some good bodyworkers might be able to weld in a repair panel piece but it is tricky to avoid obvious crease lines where the panels meet.
