Focus Mk1 Engine Trouble

Featured Replies

Hi All

Only joined the forum Tuesday but unfortunately my Focus has had to go back to the dealer I bought her from. Was driving her Wednesday when I started to suffer a loss of power and ended up kangarooing down the road. Thankfully the dealer had offered a 30 day warantee so back she has gone to get sorted I hope.

By the way she is a T reg 1.8 Zetec. Does anyone have any ideas what could have caused it. She has been fine up until then. My first thoughts were MAF sensor/spark plugs?

My first thought are a misfire so possible plugs/leads/coil related.

Similar first thought to mine then. Lets just hope the dealers mechanic is thinking along the same lines lol

Coil pack as well quite common on the 1.8 or the leads only other thing off hand is the pcv hose to the rear of the throttle body collapsing under load also common

Just an update. Dealer has just called me to inform me that the gearbox has blown a bearing, leaking oil onto the clutch plate, making it slip under normal conditions but in the heat that we had Wednesday the oil was making it stick, hence the lack of power and kangaroo effect.

Luckily he has said that he will repair it all under the 30 day warranty!!!!

That was lucky :)
