Interchangeable Thermostat Housing

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have a 2004 1.8 MK1 Focus, bought second hand as a round around.

The thermostat Housing has had a leak in the past and someone has done a poor bodge job trying to remedy the problem and has used wood screws to hold the two parts of the housing together ( not to the engine ).

My question is I have been given a housing that has the ford part no. PF-GF43 stamped on it. Apart from a few minor differences it does look the same, does anyone know if the housing is correct and fit ok.

The car is still running with the leak, but don't want to remove the old housing until either the part I have given is ok or have to but one from ford.

Thanks

Kev

Thanks for the quick reply

A new housing from ford is £190

I know that all car manufacturers use parts that are made by different suppliers but are the same even though they might have small differences, hence why I said the one I have given looks the same but with slight differences.

But somone would know if it will fit by using the part number ( PF-GF43 ), this number will at least give a clue as to if it fits a focus, fiesta or even a transit and roughly what year.

I have even ask ' my local ford dealer ' but they won't give an answer unless I stump up the £190 and buy a new one first.

god that was a surprise have you tried a moto factors coped parts

PF-GF43 is not a Ford part number.

As an example a Ford part number should look like this:

8M5T-19c112-AS (in this case the part number belongs to a Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module).

PF-GF43 Is still a number used by ford as it identifies who the manufacturer is.

its not a number ford dealers can reference though , as wilco says , its the engineering number as he says or the finis number which is numbers only

thought the pf was what the material is made off, a variant of bakelite

phenol formaldehyde

Ok thanks all.

It seems I have 2 options

1). Just give it a try first.

Maybe someone could tell me what the 'water hole' size is that allows the water through to the engine so I can at least compare first

2). Stump up and pay £190 and buy a new one

Thanks

Euro car oarts £40
