I have a Ford Focus Titanium X Turbo (150) 2012 1596cc 5-Door Estate, Manual, Petrol (for completeness !) with an Alpine INE-W925R Advanced Navi Station replacing the standard Ford-fitted sound systems and I have just bought an HCE-C117D Direct Connection Rear View Camera which I have plugged into the back of the INE-W925R.

It works fine, but I need to feed the car's "Reversing Status" into the unit (It has an input labelled "Reverse"). I obviously don't want to run a cable to the back of the car to the positive of the reversing lights if I can pick it up near to the INE-925R.

Does anyone know where the nearest point to the central console would be to pick up the positive supply to the reversing lights please ?

connector c7 pin 19 lh, pin 20 rh green with brown on bcm(fusebox) under passenger footwell

only problem is im not sure which connector is connector 7 on bcm, there are 8.know its not the middle centre( power in) and bottom right(to mirror/rain sensor)so you got 6 to have a look at .

On the Focus MK3 the (positive) reverse signal can be found directly on the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM is integrated with the interior fuse box behind the glove box. The reverse signal can be found on the following locations:

* Connector C7 Pin 19 (Green/Brown). This is the Right side reverse signal.

* Connector C7 Pin 20 (Green/Brown). This is the Left side reverse signal.

well done, got the pins right but didnt know which connectors , where you get that connector image view from wilco?

As far as I remember I found the image in the Ford Etis program. However the orignal image did not contain the connector numbers. I added the numbers myself after I determined the correct numbers by the schematics and checked them on my BCM.

thats a usefull image to have handy on the mk3 , got a copy now thanks.

I had a look at the connector this morning

It's not clear how I'm going to tee into this wire as the wiring look is so tight.

I might be better actually running a separate wire to the reversing light's positive connection.

The BCM is indeed very inaccessible. To have good access to the BCM you have to remove the glovebox completely. Even with the glovebox removed it is very difficult to tap into the wiring because of the limited length of the wiring.

When I connected my reversing camera up I used an low power cable with an inline fuse from right hand reversing light to a relay as a switching circuit which I fitted next to steering column, the fuse was about 100 ma, if a short occurs the fuse will blow.(keep the inline fuse as close as possible to the connection with the reversing light cable).

I used fused power from centre consul to power the monitor and reversing camera The cable to the reversing lights is light duty will not carry a lot of load, I think it may have overloaded the circuit if I had used it to power the camera and monitor.
