Focus 2.0 Tdci Titanium X - Text Messaging

I am the new owner of a 2012 Focus TDCI Titanium X Powershift and love the car but I thought that the Sony Rasio/Nav Unit was able to read out incoming text messages, however no such luck!

Is there something I am missing when looking through the menu for the phone or are there any updates to the software available that my dealer has not installed.

If the latter, what, if any, is the cost of updating the software?

    what phone you using ? mine reads messages ,i was using a nokia lumia 630.ive changed to a galaxi note 2 so waiting to see if it still read measages .dont know what i did for it to read messages .i think i did update the head unit there was a topic on it on hear some where

    You probably have a pre-sync car.

    Sync was added towards the end of 2012, my June built 2012 focus didn't have it. My mum's November 2012 built one does.
