Ford Focus Mark 2 - Can't Take Headlight Wiring Block Out

Featured Replies

Hello,

Another problem with my Euro-converted Focus I'm now trying to make legal for the UK again.

I need to change the right-hand headlight to one that doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic, and while the headlight comes out easily I can't manage to separate it from the wiring block, hereby illustrated with a picture:

That's my feeble hand trying to undo the clip with a small screwdriver through the notch as described here: http://www.jamessimpson.co.uk/fitting-hid-headlights-ford-focus-mk2/

This is to no avail and it's stuck and doesn't even look like it's moving a bit. I've tried all sort of moves with the screwdriver and even used two at a point to try. Is there a trick that I'm missing? Could there be something wrong with the block or the safety clip?

I don't know if the light is Ford original or after market or if it's been messed with in some other way.

Thanks so much in advance,
Tom

You pull the tab slightly outwards not push in and the block will wiggle off

As Arthur says.

At the end of where you have the screwdriver in the picture is a tab, push the screwdriver in between the tab and connector body and pull the connector out.

They can be tight though, I changed my headlights for aftermarket Depo ones and the connectors were 'snug'.
