Wheel Nuts

Featured Replies

Maybe a dumb question guys but I need new wheel nuts again thanks to crappy tyre fitters I have #5 as standard but will it be okay to fit #2 with the floating washer as these have solid heads not those stupid capspost-8800-0-18909200-1436612510_thumb.jp

Nut #2 on the picture does also have the stainless steel caps.

The Focus MK2/MK2.5 alloy wheel nuts with floating washer and the alloy wheel nuts with solid washer are interchangeable. The shape of the cone and mating surface is identical.

Correctly handled the wheelnuts with stainless steel caps should last very long. I still use the original wheel nuts that came with my previous Focus MK2. These wheel nuts are over 10 Years old and still in perfect condition.

M12x1.5 19mm 60 degree taper with washer

As long as they have the same dimensions as the original wheel nuts these should be fine.

About 2 years ago Ford standardised the Wheels and wheel nuts for most Ford models. The standardised Wheels are called Global Wheels and the wheel nuts are called Global wheel nuts because Ford uses these all over the world. The Global Wheels and wheel nuts are not compatible with the old style alloy Wheels and the old wheel nuts for alloy Wheels. Using the wrong type of wheel nut can result is a wheel coming off.

Basically you have to use the correct type of wheel nuts for the type of Wheels you have. Before fitting them you have to compare them very well. I have seen before that Ford compatible wheel nuts advertised on Ebay actually were advertised for the wrong type of Wheels.
