Mk2 Central Locking Fault

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've replaced the speakers in the front doors and upon completiing the drivers side found the inner handle had become disconnected from the locking mechanism. I didn't notice until I had driven the car and went to get out and couldn't. Taking the panel off again it was the lock end of the wire that was lose, reattached and the handle now works.

However...

When I use the central locking all the doors do the click twice and remain open routine (I had a mondeo and it did this if a door was open). I can close the drivers door on the key itself, but this leaves the other doors open, hence unsecure car.

Quick read of google suggestions resetting the key fob (not sure how this will affect the other doors...) but I'm thinking the mechanism has been 'bumped' since it is different to the exterior handle on the same door.

Suggestions or thoughts on how to cure this one? A picture of a working lock might help if anyone has it to hand?

Many thanks

So a bit more playing around. the drivers side locking catch, the upper half of the interior door handle doesn't work either. In the below image it should look like the one on the left, resting on the white plastic catch. Mine is stuck with the white plastic catch behind the metal bracket as in the lock on the right. I can't see what moves this white catch down to let the lock work as it should.

Again, any pointers appreciated.
