Ok fellas

I got new tyres (front) back in December and noticed a few weeks ago that the driver side wheel started to wear on the inside. Car past M.O.T 100% about two or three months back and I have checked all suspension components and all seem to be fine. I will however do another check when i get the time at the end of this week maybe. I do think That its maybe just a case of getting the car realigned as my local roads are very bad with potholes and parts that have been resurfaced and patched ect.

Here is a pic. The inside is on the right and the out side on the tyre on the left. Its the D/S front.

The passenger side one is not as bad although it started slightly to wear a little more on the inside but overall across the tyre its pretty evenly wore. When I do get a decent straight part of the road the car seems to want to pull to the left gradually. also when at higher speeds like above 55 or 60 on motorway ect the steering wheel vibrates and shakes, wobbles.

So I think I may have knocked alignment off sometime ago with the road conditions or driving up on a kerd too hard when parking ect and am planning on getting a new tyre fitted and aligned and balanced. I will also have a look at the suspension components again before I replace the tyre just to see if anything is out of place.

so to sum up fellas I'm just looking an opinion here to what you guys think? if all suspension checks out ok should a simple tyre replacement and realign and balance do the trick here?

get the tracking done looks like its out I had the same

pay for the full geometry set up to stop this from happening and also your car will feel better to drive too.

Thanks guys. When I get it replaced I will get the full alignment done. Hopefully get it sorted at the end of the month at the moment she is a pain to drive as she's all over the Place lol!

So that's after 6 months of driving how many miles? It looks pretty shot for such a short time

Definitely have the full set up (hawk?) mine was showing as fine after having 2 new front tyres fitted, at the tyre fitters and my old garage but the steering wheel was not quite straight, took it to a place with (hawk?) it was only slightly out on one adjustment but wheel was straight on return, last service showed inner 6 mid 6 outer 6 after a year on the tyres, which started at 7 mm.

So that's after 6 months of driving how many miles? It looks pretty shot for such a short time

Not sure to be honest. I never took note of the mileage at the time of fitments but it has wore down in a short time . I will take her in at the end of the month and get the 4 wheels check for alignment and keep updated on how it goes.

Had a look today at the car and checked out all what I could. So here are my concerns. The steering arms and rack is 100% no play ect so we can rule that out lol! springs drop links drive shafts ect all look fine as well. both ball joints are 100% no play ect. what I did notice was the back bush on the wishbone arm on the D/S looks a bit tattered. I can also get some small play in it when pray it with a bar. I get the same on the P/S but I don't think as much to be honest. Is their any way to know for sure and would wear in this part of the arm cause the wear on the tyre?

I was gonna replace the D/S arm before MOT as I noticed this when I looked over the car but I let it go and it went through 100%. I though before I get the car alignment done and new front tyres I would ask an opinion on here first as I dont want to be forking out more money than I need to. also I priced just when I was at it 2 new arms for the front from ford (I like to keep both sides as equal as I can) and they came back with a £398 + VAT price tag which I was shocked at to be honest I was expecting about £100 to £150 for the two as the local auto shop is quoting me £78 all in for the two.

so guys not a good day today for me as Money is low at the moment but I'll have to do something here so I was gonna get 2 new tyres get her the full alignment and see how she goes from there then if she is handling bad or the tyres start to track again then I would look into getting the arms replaced.

when doe you guys buy suspension pars from and are they decent quality as I always try to stay with ford own parts but at that money I just cant at the moment :(. Also had a quick look on eBay and noticed that the back bush of the front arms can be bought separate from the arm itself.

Can this be replaced on its own? The ball joint and inner bushes are good on both arms. maybe i am off track here though and just getting the tracking done will do the job but need some fresh minds on this one lol!

any advice is welcomed here as I would love to hear what you guys think.

Ok guys Just an UPDATE here.

Got two new tyres fitted to the front and got all 4 wheels alignment done. Rear was out a fraction and so was reset and fronts where done, the driver side was out a fair bit. Driving home car feels better and the steering feels lighter so I hope the issue is solved lol!
